Finding a particular nut or bolt amid a can full of small parts (figure A) can be difficult and frustrating. That's were an old baker's pan can help you out. Just dump the pieces from the can into the pan. Choose the part you need, then slide the pieces into the can through a hole.

    1. Use a drill press to cut a hole in the pan (figure B). Make sure the pan is clamped down securely. Set the speed setting to low to cut into the metal pan.

    2. Use the pan to separate the pieces into individual jars to keep similar pieces organized. Be sure to use clear jars so you can see what's inside.

    3. Use an awl to start a hole in the lid of the jar (figure C). Next, screw the lid of the jar to the bottom of the shelf and attach the jar to the lid to complete the project (figure D).
