Host David Thiel explains how to use a sod cutter.A sod cutter lifts sod up in long strips, which can be rolled up for easy removal.
When using a sod machine, review the following steps.- Check the oil in the machine. The sod cutter has two oil wells; one for the motor, the other for the transmission.
- Set the fuel gauge to the on position, then set the choke.
- Flip the ignition switch to the 'On' position.
- Set the height adjustment on the blade. To do this, loosen the 'T' handle and slide the adjuster to the height you need. Then, tighten the handle back down.
Note: try cutting a test piece of sod to ensure you're cutting at the correct height. - Pull the handle to start the sod cutter.
- Unlock the cutter height.
- Lower the blade into cutting position, then lock it back down.
- Engage the blade motion, then the drive wheels.
- Use the throttle to change speeds.
