This stand holds your lumber in the center to prevent it from drooping in between two sawhorses. The top of the stand is built with clearance for your saw blade (figure A). After you cut the wood, the stand is there to prevent the pieces from falling to the floor. You can also use the stand as an outfeed table.
Measure the height of your sawhorses. The top of the stand will need to be the same height.
Build the center post by screwing together two 2 x 4 pieces of wood. The height of the post is the height of your sawhorses minus 1-1/2", which gives it clearance space for the blade.
Add four foot pieces in a pinwheel design (figure B).
The top pieces are the same as the foot pieces. Screw the top pieces to opposite sides of the stand (figure C). The top pieces should reach 1-1/2" higher than the height of the post.
