    Oriental-style Screens
Screens have been around for thousands and thousands of years. They are commonly used to divide one room into two, but they serve other purposes as well.

    Materials and Tools:

    1x4 pine
    lauan plywood
    stapler
    two coordinating fabrics
decorative metal studs, braid or other trim
    bifold hinges
    drill
    screw
    screwdriver

    1. Determine the size of the screen you need: height, number of panels and total width.

    2. Cut 1x4 lumber to size and assemble the pieces to create a frame. Staple the fabric of the first color to the frame.

    3. Cut the lauan plywood to fit the frame. Cover the plywood with the second fabric.

    4. Join the panels with bi-folding hinges.

    5. Decorate the screen with your choice of trim. Now it's ready to hide any clutter you might have in your family room.
