This out-of-a-box organizer system by ClosetMaid expands the amount of usable closet space significantly.
    Closet Organization

It's amazing how fast a closet can become overcrowded and disorganized. But with a little planning and a small investment now, you can keep your closet in top shape from now on.

    1. Take inventory. If you find clothing that you haven't worn in two years, throw it away or donate it.

    2. Remove the barriers. A rod and a shelf are about the worst things you can put in a closet; there is a lot of wasted space above and below them.

    3. Take some time to figure out what you really need in the closet. Sketch it out and find a closet organizer that works for you and is within your budget. Some of the options to consider are tie racks and shoe racks.

    4. Use all available space.

There is a variety of closet organizer systems on the market. One popular system is by ClosetMaid. Everything you need to fit out a 3' to 4' wide closet comes in one box, and it's very economical and easy to install.

A custom closet by the Closet Factory offers specialized storage.
Another very popular system is Elfa, available from the Container Store. A metal rail goes across the top of the closet wall and attaches into the stud behind the drywall. Then you hang vertical tracks from it; they serve as supports for shelves and hanging bars.

Or opt for a custom system by a company such as the Closet Factory. A contractor comes to your home, takes all the measurements and figures out the best way to use the space. Then he installs the system for you.
