    1. First, mark the drain pipe where your 'Y' fitting will go, then cut out a section with a reciprocating saw (figure A).

    2. Once you remove the burrs from the pipe, prime your 'Y' fitting and the drain pipe before gluing them together and creating your 'Y' fitting tap-in.

    3. Next, take a 2 inch drain pipe and add a 45-degree adaptor to the end, priming and gluing it to the 'Y' fitting (figure B).

    4. Attach a one-hole strapping to the floor joist, then slide your drain pipe into the strapping (figure C).

    5. Glue the drain pipe into the 45-degree adaptor you just installed.

    6. Hook up the extended washing machine drain line to the top of the stand pipe. Secure it to the water lines using a cable-tie.

    7. Open the isolation valves and check for leaks on your water lines. If everything is dry, go ahead and push your washer into place.

    8. To install the dryer vent, start by removing or sliding back the old vent. Take a four inch flexible metal vent and add a hose clamp to the end.

    9. Run the vent to the exterior vent hole, then tighten down the hose clamp.

    10. Run the vent line close to the back of the dryer (figure D), then slide in the dryer vent hose and tighten the clamp.

    11. Plug in the dryer and washing machine.
