    Now that you've determined where to place your new laundry area, you'll need to prepare your washer and dryer to be moved.

    1. Start by disconnecting the dryer vent from its connection at the wall, then unplugging the dryer plug.

    2. Disconnect your washer by first turning the hot and cold water off at the source (figure A), then using a pair of slip joint pliers to take the hoses off each valve.

    3. Before starting the plumbing, shut off the house water at the main using a curb key.

    4. Mark where your connection will go and use a pair of PVC shears to cut into the hot and cold water lines (figure B). Make sure to have a bucket handy to collect any water left in the lines.

    5. Dry off the pipes, then glue in a 'T' adaptor (figure C).

    6. Install an isolation valve just past the point where you tapped into the water lines (figure D).

    7. Apply glue to the appropriate 90 degree adaptors, then run your new water lines to the washing machine area.
