    1. Once the water lines to the water heater have been shut off, install a tap.

    2. Turn the water heater off; if gas, turn to the 'Pilot' position.

    3. Open the drain at the bottom of the water heater to relieve the pressure.

    4. Using a pipe cutter cut the cold water line a few inches from the water heater, then make a second cut on the same line.

    5. Install the tap (figure A), and solder all joints.

Note: make sure the valve is open before soldering.

    6. Turn the water heater on.

    7. Rough in 1/2 inch copper pipe from the valve to the location of the steam generator.

    8. Solder all joints.

    9. Once the joints are cooled, use pipe clips to secure the pipe to the wall or baseboard (figure B).

    10. Install an access panel into the wall behind the shower.

Tip: when drilling into tile, use a variable bit and only drill into one tile.

Safety Note: always wear safety glasses when using a drill.

    11. Install the steam head 6 to 24 inches above the shower floor. Steam rises, so you'll want the steam head low.

    12. From the access panel, install the mounting brackets (figure C) to secure the steam head.
