    • If you have city water, you can call your city or town to get a report.

    • If you have a well, you can test the water using a kit or tests strips (figure A).

    • Sending a sample of your water to a lab is another way to find out the hardness of your water.

    • If your water is giving a foul smell and tastes bad but isn't hard, you can purchase an inline filter that has a charcoal filter (figure B) inside.
