    Water softener systems can solve your hard water problems.
    Too much of the same mineral will give you hard water. Not only can the water smell and taste bad, it can also cause damage to your appliances.

    Before choosing a water softener system, determine how much water you use per day and have your water tested for hardness.

    Choosing a Location:

    • Keep at least 10 feet of piping between the water heater and the water softener (figure A).

    • You'll need a dry, level place away from direct sunlight.

    • Make sure the temperature stays above freezing.

    • Choose an area that's near an electrical outlet.

    • The system should be close to the main water line and a drain.
