    The last steps of the utility sink installation are installing the sink strainer and finishing the drain line.

    Materials:

    Plumbers putty
    Crescent wrench
    Silicone sealant

    Safety Note: Use rubber gloves and safety glasses when gluing and cutting pipe.


    1. Apply some plumber's putty around the bottom of the flange (figure A).


    2. Place the strainer in the hole.


    3. Attach the rubber washer, fiber washer and locking ring to the underside of the strainer (figure B) and tighten.


    4. Coat the threads of the auto-vent with Teflon tape and hand tighten into the female adapter.


    5. Glue the female adaptor to the middle hole of the Y fitting (figure C).


    6. Glue the T-Y fittings with the vent onto the drain line (figure D). Ensure the direction of the bend goes toward the drain line.


    7. Attach the tailpiece to the sink strainer.


    8. Connect the P trap with the trap adapter to the tailpiece (figure E).


    9. The final piece of the P trap is a Street-90 that connects the trap assembly into the open end of the vent T-Y fitting.
