    base paint color

    Painting Horizontal Stripes

    1. The first step is to take a measurement of the wall (figure A). For instance, if wall is 91" high divide the height of the wall by five.

    2. Wall will have five stripes at 18 inches each.

    3. Mark the wall every 18 inches.

    4. Use a level to mark a straight line on the wall (figure B).

    5. Use painter's tape just below the line marked so you will be able to paint over the pencil mark (figure C).

    6. Press the tape edge firmly against the wall to prevent the paint from bleeding.

    7. Pencil mark the stripes that will be painted to eliminate confusion.

    8. Use a paintbrush at edges and roller in the body of the stripes.

    9. Remove painter's tape while paint is wet to avoid paint peeling when dry.

    10. The finished room looks great (figure D)!
