The final step in creating a wine country retreat is to decoupage wine labels to the sides of a bookshelf.Materials:
Wine labels
Pencil
Mat board
Painter's tape
6 1/2" seamless foam roller
2" flat brush
Sea sponge
Latex eggshell paint
Glaze
Cloth
Satin varnish
Wallpaper paste
- Remove the wine labels (figure A) after soaking the bottle in water over night.
- Create a template out of mat board, then trace the pattern (figure B).
- Use painters tape to tape off the pattern.
- Apply latex paint inside the lines (figure C), then allow to dry.
- Use a sea sponge to apply glaze a shade darker than the base coat.
- Remove the tape and use wallpaper paste to apply the labels in the middle of each pattern. Use a cloth to smooth out any bubbles (figure D).
- Seal with clear varnish.
