    Age the desk using ordinary shoe polish.
    The desk is aged using ordinary shoe polish. The shoe polish provides a seal against moisture and reveals a beautiful pattern.

    Materials:
    Black tint
    Red tint
    Primer
    6 1/2" Seamless Foam Roller
    2" Flat brush
    Latex eggshell enamel
    Cloth
    Black shoe polish
    5 Gallon paint bucket
    Paint bucket grid

    1. Sand the surface of your furniture.


    2. Tint the primer with black tint and red tint or purchase ready mixed primer for red paint.


    3. Apply the primer, then allow to dry.


    4. Paint on the topcoat (figure A), then allow to dry.


    5. Once it's dry, brush on black shoe polish.


    6. Use a cloth to manipulate the polish, in order to get the look you want (figure B).
