Materials:Latex eggshell paint (Sari Suit KM3534-2 from Kelly Moore, in this example) Water-based Wunda Size Gold leaf Parchment paper Paint brushes Detailing brush Aging glaze Cheesecloth - Paint fireplace with latex paint in an eggshell finish (figure A).
- Apply water-based size (figure B) to detailed parts of the fireplace (such as the gingerbread and floral medallion, in this example).
- Apply gold-leaf over areas covered by size, then tap gold-leaf with detailed brush (figure C).
- Pull parchment paper off and brush away any excess gold.
- Apply aging glaze all over fireplace including gold leaf highlights and wipe off with cheesecloth to create definition (figure D).
