    Homeowners Dianna and Kevin Curtin are procrastinating homeowners with large paint swatches on their guest bedroom walls. The swatches have been a part of the room for over a year. Host Steve Bull will teach the Curtins a few techniques for transformation their walls into a sunny bamboo bungalow.

    Materials:

    Painters tape
    Drop cloth
    Masking paper
    Paint roller
    Latex paint, base color
    Latex paint, darker topcoat color
    Glazing liquid
    Stippling brush
    Clean, dry rag

    1. Prep room by taping windows, doors and moldings with painters tape. Place drop cloth on the floor. Tape the adjoining wall with masking paper.

    2. Apply base coat on walls and allow to dry, then apply a darker color topcoat up to the point where you would like to the sun burst effect to start. Work in sections, painting about four feet at a time (figure A).

    3. Add three parts glaze to one part of the darker latex paint color to create a top coat glaze. Apply topcoat glaze about 6" above the section.

    4. Stipple glaze while paint is still wet (figure B), moving from the bottom of the glaze towards the top of the ceiling .

    5. Use a rag to blend the paint and even out the effect (figure C).
