    Materials:

    Eggshell Latex
    Cardboard (cut into diamond shapes)
    Painters tape
    Paint brush
    Stippling brush
    Faux leaf
    Artist's brush
    Accent paint (for leaf)

    1. Paint entire chest with eggshell latex.

    2. Trace cardboard diamond shape onto dresser sides, then mask shapes with painters tape.

    3. Paint inside diamond area, then stipple over paint using stippling brush (figure A). Allow to dry.

    4. Apply paint to one surface of leaf and press leaf at the area where the diamonds meet (figure B). Pull leaf away, then use artist's brush to apply a darker outline and add detail to leaf (figure C).

    Leafy Nightstand

    A nightstand is painted before receiving a plaster top with leafy plaster imprints.

    Materials:

    Eggshell latex paint
    Plaster of Paris
    Putty knife
    Faux leaves

    1. Apply eggshell latex paint to nightstand and allow to dry.

    2. Mix Plaster of Paris, add latex paint to tint (the same color used for base coat) until desired color is achieved.

    3. Use putty knife to apply plaster on top surface of nightstand (figure D).

    4. Press faux leaves into plaster to make imprints. Pull each leaf away after pressing (figure E). When entire surface is complete, allow to dry.

    Materials:

    Box canvas
    Paint brush
    Hot glue
    Maple leaves (varnished)

    1. Paint box canvas with eggshell latex and allow to dry.
    2. Apply hot glue to corners of the maple leaves, press to canvas and allow to dry.
