    Tools:

    tin snips
    power drill
    rake
    hoe
    trowel
    wheelbarrow
    stucco sponges/brushes

    Materials:

    sand
    wire lath

    Steps:

    1. Use a power drill to attach cement boards (figure K) to the outer frame of the cabinet. Add big pieces first, then smaller pieces for the thinner areas around the cabinets.

    2. Because the unit is covered in a man-made cement board, real cement cannot adhere directly to it. Attach a wire lath with concrete screws to create a surface for the stucco – add big pieces first, then smaller pieces for the thinner areas around the cabinets.

    3. Following the instructions on the bag, mix mortar to perfect consistency.

    4. First, apply a base coat of mortar mix (1/8 to 1/4 inch thick) to the back, front, and sides of the kitchen cabinets.

    5. Lightly run a rake along the base coat (this allows the final coat to firmly bond to the lampposts).

    6. Allow the base coat to dry before applying the colored stucco.

    7. While the base coat is drying, mix sand into the mortar until the stucco color you desire is created.

    8. Then, cover the base coat with a layer of stucco and 'tipple' the surface with a brush or sponge .

    9. Lightly run a trowel across the stucco to smooth the 'pitted' surface.

    10. Allow ample time for the stucco to dry.

    Granite Countertop

    Tools and materials:

    granite countertop
    caulk gun
    caulk
    hot glue gun
    level
    wood

    • Use wood to make a template for the granite countertop. This template will tell you where every corner is, where every seam needs to go, and where every cut goes.

    • Dry fit the granite before permanently attaching it to the cabinet frame (figure L).

    • Level the granite and caulk it into place.
