The DIY To the Rescue team helps the Ambroziaks with an overgrown, leaky pond in their backyard. Catherine and Brian Ambroziak are both architects living in a house full of unique design. The only problem is their Japanese garden and pond. When the crew arrives the first step is cleaning out the overgrown weeds, trees, and shrubs that surround the area. Next, they drain and repair the pond.
Even though the Ambroziaks are architects, they just couldn't manage this overgrown pond.
The Rescue team develops a plan of action.

Repairing the Concrete Pond
Materials:
pump and hose for draining fans for drying surface pond coating (Neoprene black rubber paint, thinner, primer) pond caulking trowel rags wet vac brushes for cleaning side walls pressure washer
Drain remaining water from the pond (figure A).
Pressure wash the concrete surface of pond's interior, then apply a pond caulk (figure B) to all major cracks. Because caulk is flexible and will shift with the crack, smooth caulk with a trowel for better and wider coverage.

If there are large holes in the concrete, you may have to mix a "quick drying concrete" to mend these areas (figure C). The new concrete should be spread evenly with the existing surface (figure D).
Apply the alcohol-base primer to the dry surface. This will create a bond between the surface and new sealant. After 45 minutes the primer should be dry.
Next, apply two coats of neoprene sealant (figure E).
