Drainage Problem Solving: Finishing Touches From "Weekend Handyman" episode WKH-302

	In this week's episode of Weekend Handyman, host Paul Ryan shows a variety of ways to solve minor drainage problems.
	The projects in this episode will include repairing downspouts and gutters, landscaping techniques and installing a multi-flow surface system (seen here).

Finishing Touches

• Determine which type of sand you'll use. You'll want something that's coarse (figure A) enough for the water to percolate through but not too coarse that it clogs up the drainage system. Note that pea gravel is "too" coarse to use for this situation.

• When filling in trench with sand, use a centering device (figure B) -- you can rent or use pieces of 1x) so you have equal drainage on each side of trench.

• After you place sand in the trench, you'll want to pack the sand down so it doesn't settle later. You can use a garden hose, which will consolidate the sand.

In just 10 hours the project is complete!
