    Demolition

    1. Pull out the refrigerator and detach the water-supply lines.

Note: An appliance dolly (figure A) makes removal much easier.

    2. Use a screwdriver to remove the cabinet doors. Detach the hinges and label each door and cabinet in the hinge location (figure B).

    3. To remove under-cabinet lighting, first take out the bulbs and then take out the screws to loosen the fixtures.

Safety Alert: Be sure the electricity is turned off when working with electricity.

    4. Cap off the loose wires with wire nuts.

    5. Unscrew cabinets and carefully pull them down. Score the edges with a utility knife to prevent any drywall damage.

    6. Unscrew the countertop, pry off the edging and gently lift the counter from the cabinets.

Note: Work slowly and carefully to prevent any damage to the cabinets.

Tip: Cabinets can be cut with a reciprocating saw to make for easier removal.
