Butcher Block Table Top1. Using the dimensions from the scale drawing, make the marks on the found slab of butcher block.
2. Using a straight edge, guide and circular saw, cut out all of the pieces.
3. Reconfigure the pieces into the new arrangement (figure K), and then affix to each other with glue and clamps. Dowels added to the joints can add extra strength.
4. Allow the glue to dry overnight.
5. Mark all of the curves using a bendable piece of scrap wood as a template for your curves.
6. Cut the curves with a jigsaw. Be sure to cut wide of your marks.
7. Sand down to your lines using a belt sander.
8. Smooth the rough edges with an orbit sander.9. Add roundover detail to the edge using a router (figure L).
10. Finish sanding all of the surfaces using 220-grit sandpaper.
11. Apply stain.
12. Apply three or four coats of polyurethane.
