Moving the Light Switch- Start by removing the chair rail and any other wall materials in the way of the new box.
- Making sure all the electricity is turned off in the house, poke a screwdriver into the space to make sure it is open inside.
- Trace an outline of the new box on the wall (figure A) with a pencil, then cut the hole with a jab saw (also known as a "keyhole" saw).
- Dry fit the electrical box.
- Remove the old switch.
- Since the switch boxes are back to back (figure B), feed the wires across the inside of the wall.
- Connect the wires to the switch.

Under Cabinet Lighting- Snap the press-on fitting (it captures the wiring that enter the fixture) into its place on the light box (figure C).
- Then, strip back the outer insulation on the wire with a wire stripper.
- Feed the wires into the fixture through the fitting -- make sure the outer insulation enters the box (figure D).
- Next strip 1/2" of insulation off the individual feed wires.
- Slide the stripped wires into their corresponding wire connector boxes. White to white (neutral), black to black (hot), and bare to green (ground).
- Push the excess wire into the wall, then hang the light on the bottom of the cabinet with screws.
- Snap in the opaque glass panel (figure E).
In this last episode of the 400 series, Paul and his brothers get more help as they finish mom's kitchen renovation. First up, a perforated backsplash is installed for the pots and pans. For the countertops, they install natural slate and add butcher-block counter accents by the range and desk area. The final details are finished as the cabinet hardware goes up and then mom's favorite part -- the new appliances are installed.
