    Hanging the Vent Hood

    1. Pull the cleats, which are just there for shipping purposes, off the back of the soffit with a prybar.

    2. Find the center on the wall, and mark it with a pencil.

    3. Mark the center of the cowling (figure C).

    4. Make a vertical line over the center line of the wall using a level.

    5. Raise the soffit to the ceiling and make sure the center lines match up.

    6. Secure the soffit to the wall using one 2" deck screw included with the hood. Check for level, then add the rest of the screws.

    7. Lift the cowling up to the soffit (figure D), and attach it with deck screws.

    8. Tape the elbows to attach to the vent. Raise the venting into place. Cut the vent pipe with tin snips and put that in place.

    9. Attach the mounting bracket to the cowling, which holds the vent liner in place. Then screw in the vent liner.

    10. Attach the vent and attach the faceplate to the vent (figure E).

    11. Have a professional make the electrical hook-ups.

In the next segment Paul and his helpers finish installing the cabinets and the light switch is moved.
