    1. Hire an electrician if you have any hesitation about electrical work.

    2. Get a threaded mounting bracket to hold the fixture. Screw the bracket to the box to hold it into place.

    3. Wrap one ground wire (figure A) around the green screw on the bracket.

    4. Attach the other ground wire to the free end of the first end of the ground wire and put on a wire nut. Both will now be grounded. A wire stripper helps when doing a lot of wiring.

    5. Wrap one ground wire around the green screw on the bracket.

    6. Attach the other ground wire to the free end of the first end of the ground wire and put on a wire nut. Both will now be grounded. A wire stripper helps when doing a lot of wiring.

DIY Tip: When you twist two wires together, leave both a little long (figure B). Then go back and cut both wires in the middle of the twist. This creates a perfect thread for a wire nut. If you can see bare wire outside the wire nut, you have stripped too much insulation and you will have to start all over again.

    7. Connect the rest of the wires, white to white and black to black.

    8. If you need to shorten the light fixture, use a fine-tooth hacksaw to cut the outside shaft and then the threaded rod.

    Special Kitchen Feature

There are rustic and contemporary elements in this unique kitchen, but to top it off the homeowners wanted a television, computer, CD and DVD player and radio -- but they didn't want all the clutter. The solution: an iCEBOX FlipScreen (figure C) that incorporates all these elements into one compact unit.

The installation is simple. A plate on top of the box bolts up under a cabinet, and the screen "flips" down for viewing. The unit comes with a paper template, which assists in locating the screws for the mounting brackets. Follow the instructions carefully and you're set!

To navigate the screen you have the option of the keyboard, the remote control or the screen stylus. And the keyboard has a waterproof seal. You can even hook-up a closed-circuit camera to keep an eye on your children.
