Installing the Center Island- To place the center island, we reference the plans and measure from both the sink wall and cook-top wall.
- At the intersection make a mark (figure A) that represents the center of the island.
- Use a level as a straightedge to mark points on either side and put down a tape line to indicate where the edge of the base should sit.
- Set down the toe-kick platform for the island in place using the tape line and center mark as reference, and then set the center island on top (figure B).
- Secure the cabinet to the base.
- Secure the other two outer cabinets with cabinet screws.
- Clamp the panels to the cabinets to secure them in place. Then use panhead cabinet screws to secure them permanently.
- Attach the doors and slide in the drawers to finish the island cabinet installation (figure C).
In the final segment of this episode, the vent hood is installed.
