Sink and Faucet Installation From "Kitchen Renovations" episode DKTN-404

In this second segment of the final episode of "Contemporary Kitchen Expansion" the undermount sink is installed using a carriage bolt and clip system set in pre-routed holes under the counter. The faucet, along with the sprayer and soap dispenser, are hooked up.

Sink and Faucet Installation

Note: Normally with an undermount sink you have to mount the sink first before the countertop goes in, but what the granite fabricators did was to channel some grooves under the counter so the carriage bolt and clip system could be attached in order to mount the sink.

1. Use six carriage bolts (figure A) to hold the sink in place.

2. Run a bead of 100-percent silicone around the flange of the sink (figure B) -- make sure the sink and counter are clean to get full contact with the silicone.

3. Set the sink in place and screw in the bolts.

4. To install the faucet, simply thread the supply lines through the holes (for the faucet, sprayer and soap dispenser) in the countertop.

5. Tighten the connections under the sink and you're ready for running water.
