    Adding the Backsplash

According to stainless expert Dawn-Marie Fildebrandt, "Stainless has come miles. It gives back the energy and color in the room."

The homeowners have chosen this "diagonal" pattern (figure A), but do know that there are several different patterns available. And since stainless steel is reflective, it "opens up" any area in which it's utilized.

    1. Send the template to the manufacturer so they can pre-cut the holes for the outlets and finish the edges.

    2. Even though this has peel-and-stick technology, we are adding a premium construction adhesive (figure B) because this is a large piece.

    3. Spread out the adhesive with a putty knife, making sure it's even -- with no peaks or valleys.

    4. Once the stainless steel is prepped, use a laser level to mark the wall for the top of the backsplash.

    5. Take off the peel-and-stick tape and adhere to the wall (figure C).

In the final segment of this episode the cabinets and countertops are installed.
