    1. The homeowners hired a contractor to come in and hook up the gas and electrical connections for the new appliances. That helps make the tough jobs easy!

    2. Today there are a lot of different options available when it comes to appliances. The homeowners chose stainless steel appliances that are smudge proof (figure A), which is especially nice when you have children.

    3. The new refrigerator has a hand crank for adjusting the shelves (figure B).

    4. You can purchase ranges with more than the typical four burners (figure C). The homeowners chose a 36" range as opposed to the typical 30" range.

    The total cost for the renovation would have cost approximately $40,000, but the homeowners saved about one-third ($13,500) by doing a lot of work themselves.
