Installing the Can Lights

1. Wire the cans in a series -- one wire in, one wire out to the next light.

2. Thread the BX cable in and tighten the wire clamp (figure A).

3. Connect the wires with wire nuts. Be sure to connect the ground wires.

4. Put the cover plate on and slide the fixture into the ceiling.

5. Push the four black locking tabs (figure B) to lock the fixture inside the hole.

6. Slide the trim plate into the can fixture.

Installing the Pendant Lights

1. Determine what length the lights should be. They come extra long from the manufacturer (figure C) so you can cut them to the size you want.

2. After disassembling the light and decorative sleeve, mark and cut both the decorative sleeve and the rod to length with a hacksaw.

3. Reassemble the lights and snip the wires down with a linesman pliers (figure D).

4. Put the threaded bar into a standard mounting bracket (figure E).

In the final episode a built-in cabinet is made for the refrigerator. Then the freshly painted cabinet doors are installed. Finally our traditional style kitchen gets a modern twist with the latest stainless appliances.
