 the 1914 prairie style house.

Host Paul Ryan and our homeowners renovated the kitchen and turned it into a turn-of-the-century delight ...

Installing the Can Lights- Wire the cans in a series -- one wire in, one wire out to the next light.
- Thread the BX cable in and tighten the wire clamp (figure A).
- Connect the wires with wire nuts. Be sure to connect the ground wires.
- Put the cover plate on and slide the fixture into the ceiling.
- Push the four black locking tabs (figure B) to lock the fixture inside the hole.
- Slide the trim plate into the can fixture.
Installing the Pendant Lights- Determine what length the lights should be. They come extra long from the manufacturer (figure C) so you can cut them to the size you want.
- After disassembling the light and decorative sleeve, mark and cut both the decorative sleeve and the rod to length with a hacksaw.
- Reassemble the lights and snip the wires down with a linesman pliers (figure D).
- Put the threaded bar into a standard mounting bracket (figure E).
In the final episode a built-in cabinet is made for the refrigerator. Then the freshly painted cabinet doors are installed. Finally our traditional style kitchen gets a modern twist with the latest stainless appliances.
