1. Put up a 1/2" plywood backerboard to use as a nailer for the wainscoting. First, apply adhesive to the back, then secure it with a few nails (figure A) and screws into the studs.

2. Attach side trim and bottom rails (figure B) that have been rabbited (using a table saw with a dado blade) to receive the ends of the wainscoting. Check for level.

3. Put up pieces of wainscoting, fasten with an air stapler and add the top rail that has been rabbited.

   Note: The wainscoting is made from medium density fiberboard (MDF). It will get painted later.

4. Use adhesive and nails to attach the edge banding around the banquette (figure C).

In the next segment, the faucet is put together and the range hood and vent installed.
