1. Paul met with Howard's designer to see what design they had come up with for the loft kitchen. They plan to use a rubber membrane floor (figure A) that just snaps together. The cabinets boxes are in good shape, they are going to update them with metal laminate on the surface of the cabinets (figure B). They will install a wood countertop and arc lights over each cabinet.

2. The first step is to clean out the kitchen.

   Note: Lots of charitable organizations accept used appliances, check it out if you plan on purchasing new appliances.

3. The entire cabinets are removed. To laminate the surface creates a lot of dust and it is easier just to take the entire thing down. The cabinets are held in place by screws (figure C).

   Note: If the cabinets are sealed, you will need to use a pry bar to remove the glue or silicone. When removing the sealant, pry carefully so do you don't destroy the face frames of the cabinet boxes.

   Tip: Mark the cabinets so that you will remember their location when you reinstall them.
