- Steve and Michelle had a recycle center that they wanted to reuse in the new kitchen. They ordered an additional countertop to fit the top of their recycle center.
- They wanted to try and match colors of their new cabinets. The first thing they did was replace the knobs to match the knobs of the new cabinets.
- The recycle cabinet had to be sanded. The doors were removed and then Michelle sanded the top, although the new countertop was going to be there, because they wanted to test stains. You just want to break the sealer, so that new stain will adhere.
Tip: Be sure to go with the grain when you are sanding. - They applied the stain with a foam brush and the wiped it down (figure A).
- They used dollops of silicone (figure B) and then set the new countertop into place. Once you set it in place, you don't want to move it until it sets up.
