	In this final episode of "Chef's Kitchen," the renovation is completed, starting with laying the Terrazzo tile, seen here, on the floor.

In the second segment host Paul Ryan and the homeowners dry fit and cut the first row of floor tiles, and Ryan notes that it's best to tile the area under where the dishwasher will be as a preventive measure against future damage.

Installing the Tile

1. Dry fit the first row of full tile off the snapped line. Now lay out and mark the outside row of tile that will need to be cut to fit.

   Tip: To determine the tile cuts, you can use a technique called "jump scribing," which is simply to overlay the second tile from the wall and scribe a line down the tile for the cut (figure A).

2. Use a diamond-edge wet saw to cut any tiles that need to be cut to fit. A wet saw will create a cleaner and smoother cut.

3. After you have dry fit all of the tiling, spread out a thin layer of wet-set adhesive onto the floor using a 1/16" square notch trowel (figure B).

4. Don't cover the chalk mark you made with the adhesive. Spread the adhesive spread up the line instead of over it.

5. Let the adhesive set for a few minutes to become tacky.

   Note: Read directions specific to the adhesive product.

6. Lay in first row of full tile, placing each tile firmly into position then butting the next one up against it snugly (figure C).

7. Now set in the outermost row of cut tiles.

8. Once the tiles are set into the adhesive, roll the floor with a 150-lb. roller (figure D) to ensure that the tile and adhesive have bonded completely.

9. Let the adhesive dry -- and the tiles set in -- for about 12 hours then seal.

   Tip: Be sure to tile underneath where the dishwasher will go because, according to Ryan, once the dishwasher is in if you don't have tile and there's a leak the subflooring could be damaged. Also, with the tile you'll see the water leakage. As usual it's better to be safe now than sorry later.

In the next segment the final touches begin with the cabinet-door inserts and trim.
