    Installing the Base Cabinets

    1. Again start with the corner cabinet, which is also the sink cabinet.

    2. Measure and mark the back of the cabinet for the necessary drainage pipes and water supply lines.

    3. Use a spade bit and drill to drill holes for water supply lines (figure A). Use the appropriate size hole cutter bit and drill cut the hole for drainage pipe.

With the plumbing holes cut out, it's time to dry fit the corner cabinet. Slide the cabinet into place. Be careful not to force cabinet around pipes, fittings can be damaged and cause leaks.

    4. Now level the cabinet -- side-to-side and front to back. Use wooden shims to raise where needed (figure B).

    5. Drill pilot holes in the ledger boards in the back of the cabinets. Use long enough screws and make sure to hit the studs to secure the unit in place.

    6. Install the rest of the lowers, and level all to the height of the sink cabinet. This is important because our countertop is one continuous piece.

    7. Continue this process around the rest of the room, and be sure to leave room for the dishwasher and refrigerator.

In the next segment the stainless-steel countertop is brought in.
