Installing the Underlayment- Remove or pound down all staples and nails and fill in any large gaps in the floor with blocks of wood (figure A), and if need be fill in the gaps with a leveling compound.
- Cut the wood to size with a table saw and use 1-3/8" quarter crown staple about every 6" (figure B) to ensure the underlayment is secure and won't squeak.
Note: Staples need to penetrate through and into the subfloor by one inch.
