	The piece de resistance has to be the combo sink and dishwasher, which is a perfect touch for this modern renovation.

In this third segment the new cooktop is brought in and host Paul Ryan and the homeowner cut out an opening in the countertop to place it in. The oven is slid into place and another opening is cut for the space-saving dishwasher and sink combination.

	Being a graphic designer, the homeowner wanted to go with a new cooktop that wasn't just about function, but also form. And a nice perk with this particular choice is that when the top isn't being used, it's extra counter space.

Installing the New Cooktop, Stove and Sink

1. Using a template, mark out the spot with a pencil where the hole needs to be cut.

   Tip: Line up tape around the pencil mark so you are able to see the line a little better when you begin cutting.

2. Use a trim saw (figure A) to cut the laminate. It's an accurate blade but not aggressive so you'll need to make a series of shallow cuts. The first cut should just cut through the laminate surface. After the first cut lower the blade about an 1/2" for the next pass. Continue lowering the blade until you are all the way through.

   Note: Trim saw rental is approximately $25 a day.

3. Set the stovetop into the counter opening, and note that it comes with special clips to hold it in place.

4. Now it's time to slide the new stove (figure B) into the cabinet space and it takes just a few screws to hold it in place.

5. To cut the rounded corners for the sink, use a hole saw to drill through the counter (figure C).

6. Since less precision is needed you can then use a jigsaw to cut out the rest of the counter.

In the final segment the new backsplash, cabinets, flooring, lighting and a new refrigerator are installed.
