Adding Skin to the Side of the Cabinet

Tip: Be sure to order extra skins and fill stock when ordering cabinets for a kitchen renovation. You'll need them for trim, toekicks and other fixes.

    1. Cut the skin (figure A) with a saw to the size that you need.

    2. Build up any gaps on side of cabinet with scrap pieces of stock using an impulse nailer (figure B).

    3. Use construction adhesive to attach the skin to the side of the cabinet (figure C).

    4. Use short 5/8" pin nails to hold the skin into place.

To finish the project, Ryan and the couple installed the lighting fixtures, added the glass doors to the cabinets and mounted the electrical plates to the wall.
