    In this segment host Paul Ryan talks with the hardwood flooring expert. The water-damaged subfloor under the refrigerator has to be replaced. Ryan demonstrates the various tools to put in the subflooring.

    Note: When Ryan and the homeowners took out the refrigerator, they discovered that the subflooring had been damaged due to a water leak. Before the new subfloor can be installed, the damaged portion (figure A) had to be repaired.

    Repairing the Subfloor

    1. Use a pry bar to remove disintegrating chipboard and vacuum up the debris.

    2. Cut pieces of 5/8" plywood material to fit the holes.

    3. Screw in using a rapid-load screw gun (figure B).

      Note: You can rent a rapid-load screw gun for approximately $30 a day.

    Now that the subflooring has been repaired, in the next segment Ryan and the homeowners start the process of installing the new subflooring.
