Installing Drywall- Run your pieces of 4' x 8' horizontally (figure B) instead of vertically. This will make it easier to hide the seam.
- Measure and mark all electrical boxes.
- Install a piece over the window and screw into place using 1-5/8" drywall screws.
- Mark where the window actually is, and then use a Rotozip tool with a spiral bit (figure C) to cut out the marked area.
- Screw the drywall in with 1-5/8" drywall screws and a cordless drill.
- Tape seams with self-adhesive fiberglass tape, mud with joint compound and let dry.
- Sand smooth using a sanding pad. Make sure to poly off room before you start to do the sanding.
- Vacuum up dust.
Finally the demolition is over and in the next episode Ryan and the homeowners put in the new subflooring, in-floor heating and top it off with a beautiful Brazilian cherry hardwood floor in the kitchen and the family room.
