    Appliance Removal

    1. Make sure to unhook the gas line to the stove.

Note: Use an appliance dolly (figure A) to make the job easier.

    2. Measure appliances and compare them to the width of the exit route. You may have to remove the refrigerator door and sometimes even a piece of trim from around a doorway.

    3. Shut off the power to the circuit and cap wires when removing the vent hood.

    Removing Sink Cabinet and Countertop

    1. Look under the top to see how it's attached, and remove screws and pry away from the wall using a small pry bar (figure B) and hammer. Unless it's glued it from should lift off.

    2. Remove the anchor screws from the back of the cabinets.

    3. Remove any anchor screws that may be in the floor.

    4. Pull out the cabinet and remove from the room (figure C).

In the next segment, Ryan and the homeowners carefully remove the trim so it can be reused. The old tile backsplash is chipped away, and the vinyl floor is easily removed after it's cut with a circular saw.
