In this segment host Paul Ryan demonstrates how to install a dishwasher.

Sink Installation --

Tip: Before you start the installation process, make sure to have the exact measurements of all the appliances, keeping in mind such things as door and hinge clearance needed in cabinet openings. This will make thing go a lot smoother when it comes time to slide them in.

Installing the Dishwasher

1. You may have to pick a dishwasher supply line at the hardware store. Make sure it's long enough to reach under the sink.

2. Tip the dishwasher on its back and remove the lower cover plate (figure A).

3. Attach the elbow that came with the supply line to the dishwasher, and use Teflon tape to prevent leaks.

4. Drill two holes through side of the sink cabinet using a drill and spade bit (figure B). One is for the water supply line and the other is for the plastic drain hose.

5. Push the lines through for the plumber to hook up.

6. Hook up the electrical connection or have an electrician do it.

7. Put the lower cover plate back on.

8. Slide the dishwasher into place.
