    The area where the trash compactor was is a great place to add extra shelving, including baskets for organization.

    Steps:

    1. Birch plywood shelves and wooden brackets are finished out to look like the cabinets (figure A).

    2. Choose baskets for the shelves (figure B), and measure the baskets so you will know how far apart to space the shelves.

    3. Measure and mark the height of the baskets on the front and back of the cabinets.

    4. Draw level lines between the marks.

    5. Use a nail gun to install the braces where you make the level lines (figure C).

    6. Insert the shelves. Now you have a decorative storage area (figure D).

    Tip: For easier access to items, consider using roll-out shelves.
