Priming and Painting Walls- Tape off the trim with painter's tape.
- Put down drops of paper on the flooring.
- Prime areas that were patched.
- Paint walls with selected paint.
Installing Irregular Shaped Cabinets - Start with the most difficult cabinet and the rest will build off of the location of this corner piece (figure A).
- Create a square for the cabinet. Extend imaginary lines from the corner of the cabinets to create a square (figure B).
- Measure the distance from one side to the other side, and transfer this square to the floor.
- Measure from both walls the location of water supply lines and drain pipe. Both vertical and horizontal measurements are needed.
- Transfer these measurements to the back and floor of the cabinet. Mark with a pencil to prep for cutting.
- Do the same measuring for the drain pipe.
- Use a 1" spade bit (figure C) and a jigsaw to cut out holes.
- Lift and lower the cabinet carefully over the pipes, feeding them though the holes you just cut.
- Slide cabinet back tight into corner.
In the next segment, Ryan and the homeowners continue working with the cabinets, and Ryan demonstrates a trick for adjusting cabinets to level. The island is built out of two cabinets.
