1. Measure from the corner of the ceiling to the joist closest to (but less than) eight feet.2. Mark measurements on drywall using a chalk line.
3. Set drywall against the wall or sturdy worktable and use a utility knife to score along measurement (figure B) just past the paper and into the board.
4. Give the scored drywall a quick push to break it (figure C), then use knife to finish the cut on the opposite side.
5. Mark center position of recessed lights on your drywall.
