Installing the Butcher-block Countertop

1. First, be sure to bring the pieces indoor a few days before installation to acclimate to your home's humidity.

   
   

2. Next, attach corner supports (figure A) underneath the counters in order to properly support the butcher-block countertop.

   
   

3. Slide the butcher block onto sawhorses for easier access.

   
   

4. Fasten the butcher-block pieces together by drilling miter buckle (figure B) holes in bottom of each butcher block.

   
   

5. Place the biscuit (figure C) into the center of the counter to keep the sections level.

   
   

6. Set the countertop in place.

   
   

7. Insert the miter buckles into the pre-drilled holes.

   
   

8. Tighten the miter buckles underneath the counter.

   
   

9. Screw the corner supports to the butcher block (after the sink is installed).

   
   Installing the Faucet

   
   

10. Take out the sink.

    
    

11. Determine the center of the sink cutout, and measure back slightly to determine where the faucet and well-water holes go.

    
    

12. Drill the main faucet hole, handle holes and hole for the well-water faucet, using a drill and forstner bit (figure D).

    
    

13. Replace the sink and lift it up. Run a bead of silicone under the edges (figure E) to seal the sink in position.

    
    

14. Attach the corner support to the butcher block to secure it in place.

In the final segment, Ryan and the homeowners install the new appliances.
