    Replacing your countertop with new laminate sounds like a big job, but following these instructions from our DIY to the Rescue team, will give you great results!

    • Measure you counter space and allow for you sink opening. Your counter manufacturer or home specialty store can then custom cut your counter top for you.

    • Dry fit the counter to make sure you have a snug fit before securing it into place.

    • Remove the counter and run a line of silicone caulk along the edge of the base cabinets where they will meet the counter top.

    • Place the counter top again, and use a rubber mallet if necessary to gently tap the counters snugly into place.

    • Check for level.

    • Pre-drill holes under the counters into the corner blocks. Make sure your drill bit height is not deeper than the thickness of your counters so you don’t drill up through the tops.

    • Also, be sure to choose a screw length that is only 3/4 of the thickness of your counter for the same reason.

    • Drive the screws into the corner blocks to secure the counter into place.
