Note: For this particular project, the skytube is going to be placed between the vanity and the tub in the bathroom.

    1. Find the ceiling joist and mark it.

    2. Measure to make sure it's centered.

    3. Drill a hole and use a guide (figure A) to make a circle, and follow the lines with a saw and you have the hole for the syktube.

Safety Alert: Don't forget to wear safety goggles whenever you're working with a saw.

    4. Attach the ceiling trim (figure B) and head to the attic.

    5. You would normally just place the tubing into the ring-trim you just created, but in this case, the joint in the roofing above so you have to off-set the tube (figure C). Then you have to offset the hole in the roof to miss the joint.

    6. Drill a hole and insert a drill bit (figure D) as a marker so it's easy to locate when you go up on the roof.

    7. Find the drill bit on the roof and trace the inside of the opening of the tube onto the roof shingles.

    8. Drill a couple of pilot holes (figure E) and get ready to cut through the roof.

    9. Add some sealant to the flashing and slide it underneath the shingles.

    10. Use screws to secure the flashing into place.

    11. Insert the skytube.

    12. There's an end mark on the dome (figure F) of the skytube, and you place it with that mark pointing North to get the most sunlight. Secure the dome with screws.

    13. Head back into the attic and make sure the tubes are aligned properly.

    14. The last step is to use aluminum tape to seal the tube joints (where the tubing joins).

In the final segment, enjoy a tour of the new home office.
