The family vehicle gets a lot of use every week transporting the Strafford kids from place to place. When it's time to fill up with gas, Krista struggles to get the fuel door open. A simple helper spring should fix the problem!

    1. Remove the nut holding the latch spring in place inside the fuel door.

    2. Install a helper spring (figure A), replace the nut and tighten everything down.

    3. Remove the cushion bumpers from the door, and then coat them with lubricant.

    4. Replace the bumpers.

    Musty Interior

Because family vehicles get so much use, the new car smell may turn into a musty odor. The DIY crew installs a new filter to freshen up the interior.

    1. Remove the glove box.

    2. Take out the cabin filter compartment lid.

    3. Carefully remove the old cabin filter (figure B).

    4. Turn the heat on high and re-circulate the air for 20 minutes.

    5. Spray half a can of disinfectant into the cabin filter and onto the evaporator core (figure C).

    6. Note: be sure to use disinfectant that is made for car interior.

    7. Replace the cabin filter with a new one.

    8. Snap the compartment lid in place.

    9. Re-install the glove box.
