Krista Strafford is in need of some help around the house from the DIY crew while husband Lieutenant James Strafford is on duty in Africa. When James is home, he is often found cleaning out the garage to create more space. The Straffords will have an updated office space, new storage shed and a fuel door on the family vehicle that opens again. The DIY crew helps out by building a new storage shed connected to the house. Pouring a Concrete Pad - Use stakes and string to lay out the frame area for the concrete pad.
- Dig a 12-inch ditch (figure A) on the inside of the string for the footers.
- Build a form for the footers out of 2 x 8 boards and plywood.
- Fill in the area with concrete. Note: the concrete will be 12-inches deep for the footers. Another six inches should be poured on top.
- Screed and float the concrete pad (figure B).
- While the concrete is still wet, install anchors (figure C) for the sill plates.
- Run a broom over the pad to give it a non-slip texture.
- Let the pad cure overnight.
